Every legal document demands translation that holds up in court. Our founder is a JCESP-registered sworn interpreter — the only type authorized for Brazilian legal proceedings.
Regulatory Bodies & Standards We Cover
Generic translation agencies don't survive contact with legal & compliance documents. Here's what makes this sector uniquely demanding.
In legal contexts, every word carries consequence. "Shall" vs "may", "guarantee" vs "warranty", "rescission" vs "termination" — mistranslation creates legal ambiguity that courts and arbitrators exploit.
Brazilian courts, government agencies, and the Junta Comercial only accept translations produced by registered sworn translators (tradutores públicos). Using a non-registered translator invalidates the document.
Brazil's Civil Code, CPC (Code of Civil Procedure), and corporate law differ substantially from US, UK, and EU counterparts. A translator unfamiliar with both legal systems creates parallel documents that describe different legal realities.
Arbitration submission deadlines, court-ordered discovery windows, and notarial filing requirements don't accommodate slow translation. We maintain emergency legal translation capacity for 24h turnarounds.
Complete Coverage
We used STIB for interpretation in a $120M ICC arbitration between a US company and a Brazilian conglomerate. The interpreter's simultaneous performance was flawless — never once did the Brazilian attorneys challenge the accuracy. That's the standard you need at that level.
A structured workflow designed for sector-specific accuracy, compliance, and on-time delivery.
We review document type, legal jurisdiction, intended submission target (court, notary, regulatory body, arbitration panel) and confirm whether Tradução Juramentada certification is required.
Documents are assigned to a bilingual attorney-translator or sworn interpreter specializing in the relevant legal area — corporate law, arbitration, IP, labor, or compliance.
Translation is reviewed by a second bilingual legal professional for accuracy, legal equivalence, and terminology consistency — with particular attention to terms with no direct equivalent in the target jurisdiction.
If Tradução Juramentada is required, our JCESP-registered founder certifies the translation. If apostille is also needed, we coordinate the apostille process through the CNJ.
